Ported 243s and valve question

Would it be worth it to swap out my ls6 243 valves into my set of ported 243s I bought? Worth some rpms? Or not worth the trouble.

Are they actual sodium filled valves? If so then yes, i'd switch and lapp them for sure. Theres alot of mass in the valve that needs to be controlled and reducing that mass can free up rpm, but even if you don't spin any more rpm, the valve will be much easier to control.

I would ask who ported your heads first. They might have done a valve job that's better with the new valves than what the LS6 valves offer.

Both valid points. Any time you can lighten the valvetrain and spin an air pump higher without valve float, it will make more power after peak. Carrying longer and Allowing a higher rpm point on shift recovery. The hollow GM valves are good pieces. LS3,6 or the even the Katech 2.10 version.
