Default wast of time and money???

Im thinking of checking around junk yards for an LS1. If i could find one I wanna try and rebuild it my self. I dont know to much about building them, but would like to learn. so would it be a wast of time, money, and energy?

Not a bad idea unless the Junk heap wants to rape you on the cost. My neighbor did exactly that (well from one of those push/pull/drag lots that gave $100 for it on trade). stole a 99 - complete - out of a rolled Z for $600.00. Can't beat that with a bat. Be aware though, that it's extremely rare to find an LS1 sitting in a junk yard. Most of the cars get parted out quickly, rather than going to rest in some scrap heap.

Man if I found an ls1 layin around a junk yard for a descent price, I would jump on it in a second. I don't know enough about the internals to rebuild it yet, but in my experience the fool-proof way to learn about something is to just do it. Go for it man.
