Arrow ls6 heads on a camaro ss

I have a friend of mine close to were i live that has a ls6 heads and cam for sale i have already bought a ls6 cam but i was wondering would buying these heads be worth it or not. I dont want to spend $2000 on a set of heads but he has a great deal and i was wondering if i put those on my camaro what hp and tq gains would i get out of it? So more or less would this be worth buying or just let this go.

aftermarket S2 heads with higher compression & higher flow #'s then stock ls6 heads can be found for $995 & up so unless your getting those heads for $500 I'd just go with an aftermarket head.

well if your running 12 psi with your turbo id get some 6.0 heads and shoot for 9:1CR so you can up the boost to 15-18. and id get them with 2.05 1.60 valves.
get a good port and polish job done with big exhaust ports.
and a blower cam! not an ls6 cam!

I guess it all depends on how cheep they are. You'll see improvement, but there are much better heads out there. Me, I never buy anything that I know I'll want to replace later. It saves me money, but it also means that my car is very close to stock with a few cool parts.

I agree, unless your buddy is gonna give you a smoking deal ( $600 or less ) you are better off with aftermarket stuff. You will get higher compression due to smaller combustion chamber size and better exhaust flow with the "D" ports. Beyond that the price should be the decision maker.
Edit...did not see that you are running a turbo. If you go with the LS6 stuff be very careful with the compression increases. Good for top end power but you may need to cut back on the boost if detonation becomes an issue.

what would be ideal for a street setup? LS1 with LS6 cam and heads? how much of an increase?? and would it even be worth it? what about LS6 cam paired with 5.3heads?
