Default Cam bearing clearance

Hey all,

So I'm finally getting ready to send my block to the machine shop. Going to have them bore/hone the cylinders, line hone the mains, and install new cam bearings. I read that you should already have your cam (so you can compare cam bearing to cam clearance) which surprised me, I figured most cams would have a standard size since the journals are machined.

Anyway, what is the proper clearance for the journals to the bearings?

D'oh. Saw the journal size, missed the cam bearing. Thanks!

FWIW, whenever I replace cam bearings, they're usually tighter than the stock ones. If that's the case, you can measure the ID of the bearings installed in the block and ask the cam grinder to grind the bearing journals to whatever OD gives you the clearance you want.

I just did that with a Comp cam on an LS2, but I'm sure any of the others can do it too.
