Finding the correct conrods Hi there,
I've been building my engine and currently at shop for balancing. However there's a problem. I got the wrong bloody rods and when brought the forged DSS Racing piston, I never confirmed the wrist pin size. Which is .9435"
The only Rods I can find compatible are Compstar ones which are .943. But are very pricey and only wanting a rod to handle 600-700hp
as engine will produce 500-550hp
Is there any other rods you know of that will fit my .9435 Pin.
I see alot of .945 and wonder if these would still be ok..

This is a floating pin designed for use with the aftermarket piston and has .944" pin. And it's very affordable. Also comes with ARP 8740 bolts. It'll definitely work well for your goals.
Scat also makes an H-Beam, but it's $200 more and not sure it adds much for you.

So you reckon the .0005 sizing of the pin will be ok.
wont cause problems with the minimal spacing ?
And I don't mind the added $200 As still cheaper than Compstar's rods.
If I can find the H-beam's from Scat.. As can only find the .945.
And not sure if the extra .002 will cause rocking or problems later on.

What rod length do you need, 6.100" or 6.125"?
If I had to guess, I would assume you got a DSS piston meant for a stock rod. If the pin is .9435", then you can use a Gen IV bushed rod, but you would want the machine shop to check the pin fit and hone accordingly. Those rods are plenty capable of 550whp.

MAX pin = .001"
The shop I use IS L + B Conrod, Anaheim, CA.
There is the ability to fit OS pins, just a "hone" away.

Yeah my engine shop I'm using is looking at doing the same thing.
last resort would be to use the stock rods again

I think the Scat I-Beams are stronger simply because of the better steel and of course the larger ARP bolts, but the Gen IV rods are pretty stout. Denmah just got his turbo Colorado over 900whp before bending the rods in his SBE 6.0L.

How do you want to run the pin, with a press fit or full floating?

Will be full floating. And yes the pistons meant for stock stroke... Workshop is looking to rebush my new rods to correct size. But running a stroke of 6.125"
How ever if not capable to rebush, then I'll use your idea of just simply using my stock rods. As they in good condition.
just wanted extra strength of my H-beam for security that it would handle the extra hp..

Yeah I don't see why not, but they are pretty heavy. The small end is weird, it tapers like an LS7 rod, so that might need to be considered for fitment in between the piston pin bosses.
Yeah, it's 696g!
The Compstars are 616g. And stronger. To me, the Compstars are still the best budget rod out there. The K1 is 660g for standard and 616g light (but not rated to hold as much power).
If you could swing the Compstars, they make a .945 pin version that would be pretty awesome in the sub $700 range.

Rod with .945" MY rods must be VERY "low thought".

This Forged "H" beam @ 676 gms, 6.125", .943"-945" "tapered" option @ $450.00 to you door. (States)
The GM OEM head gasket will give .032 Squish.
Could you return your current rod set ?
