Default Need some help with this Cam I purchased... Good for boost or no?

Hey guys, need a little help. Currently doing an A&A Vortech V3 build on my 98 C5 Vette. Currently running a 228r texas speed cam and had no plans of switching but I recently acquired a Custom ground bullet cam on a trade. Previous owner informed me it was a blower speced cam for a D1 on his Gen 1 CTSv... I called bullet and got the specs... they are as follows

Duration 246/245 Lift .620/.620 LSA 113 Intake Center Line 109

So my question is would this be better than my current 228r for my application or would I be better off to just stick with what I have and try to sell this Cam (Ill probably need to do springs if i swap, currently have PAC 1518s)

Thanks in advance!

That cam is huge. Was it in a big *** stoker motor? That cam would not be good in a boosted application.

Not sure, I honestly believe the guy had no idea what it came out of and just wanted to get rid of it.

Sell it and your other cam and buy a cam that's spec'd for a turbo application.

I think for now ill just live with the 228r to save the headache of changing it since I'm building a 6.0 next year. Just ready to get it back together and drive it lol.

I'd look at a Jam Cam (230/242), BTR 227/244, or the EPS Blower (232/240) cam. All would work well with your centri blower for your application.

The 228R would actually be a pretty good turbo cam.

Think the 228r will be alright on some light boost from the v3? (doubt i make much more than 7-8lbs this year). Just dont want to spend money on a cam when im gonna turn around and build another motor in a year.

If you're going to be building another motor in the next year or so just leave what you've got alone and get something more suitable for the next motor. a 228/228 isn't the most ideal cam for a centri blower but its not the worst you could have either. And for the hassle of swapping the cam I don't think it's going to hurt your performance enough to make it worth changing with plans of another motor in the future. However, the new cam that you bought, the 246/245, is too damn big even for the 6.0 you're planning to build. Id do like others have suggested and try to sell it and make your money back.

Between those two camshafts, I would use the 228R. This intake valve events aren't too bad for your application. It is just lacking exhaust duration for a supercharged application. Ideally, I would probably recommend our CS 228/244 LS Supercharger Camshaft for your application. (228/244-116+5) It has great driving manners and will be very efficient with that blower setup.
