Default Ls trays

Hi Team,

Heads are off the car, read up that the trays need to be replaced...

I don't understand why you have to drill holes in them, well I mean I do, but if they needed holes wouldn't GM have them in the trays from the factory and people like us don't have to go drill them our self...

Cant I not just put new oem ls1 trays? I mean that's what is in the car right now.

But people are saying LS2 over LS1 trays but you need to drill.

Any kind of help will be appreciated as this is my first build and I need the car up and running asap before spring.

No need to drill anything. Holes just provide to allow oil to drain easier. DD just buy new ones throw them in and call it a day

i think it is more to allow oil to return to the pan faster for when the engine is in high rpm at long times getting the pan full is best then letting it go dry.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll just throw in oem ls1 trays. I won't be beating at my car or driving at high RPM for a long time.

I will be ripping it here and there but definitely not where I'm beating the crap out of it often

I didn't drill mine and my ls1 has many 7000 rpm strip passes with no oil pressure fluctuation. F body pan, ls6 pump and 6 qts. of mobile 1. If you don't have a high volume pump you don't need to drill the new trays.
