Default New cam or Adjustable Timing set?

So I bought a Howards cam off craigs a while back and put it in my LQ4 with ported/polished 243 heads and LS6 intake. The thing is torque MONSTER and pulls super hard in the mid rpm area.

specs: Lift: .578 / .587, Duration @ .050: 226 / 232, Centerline: 108, Lobe Sep 112, Adv 4 deg.Aggressive Street/Strip, Mid torque & horsepower, Needs good heads.

I find that it sorta falls off early on the top end though, hence the description for mid range tq and mid range hp. Around 5500 - 6000 it starts to die off it seems. My buddy has a texas speed 233/239 on a 114 that just never quits. Pulls HARD all the way to redline. Is there anything i can do to my current setup to make it pull farther in the rpm range? Would an adjustable timing set get me there by retarding the cam a few degrees?

I am limited by PTV since i milled these heads .030 when i installed them. I was looking at the EPS cam on brian tooleys website that advertises a smooth power curve all the way to 6800 rpm.

specs: Specs are 226/234 .604"/.604" 113+2

Would this cam give me any benefits over my current setup as far as higher rpm range?

Thanks for the replys in advance guys.
