Default Cammed ws6 question

Recently purchased a 00 t/a with a rebuilt engine for 7k but the "custom cam" specs given to me seem a little off to me. I don't know much about cams but do these specs seem like a boost cam?any info would be greatly appreciated.

cam specs: .558/.578 lift, advertised duration 279/290, 218/230 duration @.050" lift, 112 degrees of lobe separation.

It depends on your idea of a "boost cam" but a duration split with that much exhaust bias makes sense; you don't need as much intake duration because you are cramming(boosting) the air/fuel in there, and since you crammed that much more in there, you need more exhaust duration to let it out. A 112 LSA is a little odd but it's only a measurement and not really the whole story. In theory, a low LSA tells us we have more overlap, and overlap under boost can let some of your boost out the exhaust.

The lift is conservative but not bad per se; stock LS1 heads don't flow much nore past .500" so those donkey cams with .640" lift just get you to mid lifts a little faster. If running boost, less of an issue.

Short answer: yes, that could be considered a boost cam but we don't have all the specs. Is that all the info you can give about the cam?

yea pretty much those were the cam specs on the receipts. The engine was also Bored 0.010 Over which I don't see the point in doing so with an LS engine. But after pulling the pan and valve cover gaskets all the signs are there of a rebuild. He also mentioned the car was "93 octane tuned" but it runs rich as hell. Thank for the info I needed to know what you guys thought of it before I tried getting it retuned.

Is the car boosted? Does the car still have a MAF or was it tuned for Speed Density? I'm boosted and tuned SD and my car does have a rich smell at idle.

No it isn't but it does still have the MAF that's why I been thrown off about the whole set up he had running he claimed he had 400 rwhp with ported heads, that custom cam, and "93 octane tune'' lol

I think 400 rwhp on that cam is possible
