Default ls1 tick

My friend has a 2000 ws6 m6 xr275hr-12 and missed a 3rd to 4th and hit 2nd. Wheels locked up and backend skipped. He immediately pushed the clutch in. Car runs great but has a noticable tick louder on driver side of car. However with Texas speed long tubes and everything else I'm not sure how bad this is. Block was recently rebuilt about 20k ago and all new valvetrain new valves reseated. New rods etc. Any thoughts on this tick? Car isn't down on power and idles fine.

Severe Over revs Have Been Known To Bend pushrods. Pulling a valve cover is easy enough, that's where I would start.

Could be a bent pushrod, collapsed lifter, exhaust leak, piston slap. Pull valve covers first

The issue is we don't know the length of the pushrods if they were to be bent. He didn't rebuild car just bought it 2 years ago. He'd like to put hardened in anyway but I'm thinking the weak stockers may have saved his motor. With this cam would a different length pushrod be used? Also I know the shoebox site for lt1s is there a site for ls1s as well?

If it helps the tick at the motor isn't really really loud. But once it hits the collectors of the longtubes it's amplified. You can hear it as he drives along and at idle. I used a screwdriver stethoscope nd the tick seems to be from back of driverside. It's not a knock but a clicking tapping noise

I know squat about those cams but on most builds I notice people tend to stay close to stock on the pushrods maybe a hair shorter. Some pushrods even have there size on them. Could be worn off thought at this point.

I recently chased a tick on a LS1 and it turned out to be the lifters....2 of them were marked up good and the cam showed some wear as a result of that.

It sucks that the lifters are so hard to get at to inspect.

Shouldn't need to know the length to be able to tell if they're bent

Either use a straightedge or roll them on a table to see if any of the pushrods are bent. Measuring the length is quite easy with an 8" or 9" caliper.

If anyone has listened to this feel free to chime in. Hopefully pulling covers tomorrow. A collapsed lifter would let pushrod plunge in and out freely right?

Update : pulled driver's side. Had 3 bent rods. One severely bent. Wore a groove in head. Although didn't seem to cut into any water jacket or anything. Ordered set of comp cams rods should be here tomorrow. Unfortunately my garage is just starting up so I don't have a bore scope to peak in at cylinder. I will get car buttoned back up tomorrow and update again. All lifters look fine. Brand new motor. Such a shame.

I got nervous for a moment. You meant pushrods. When most guys say rods they mean connecting rods.

Glad it's only the pushrods, get 'er back on the road!

No I meant pushrods. But with this groove cut in the head from the pushrod is this anything to worry about? One groove is pretty deep however it is grooved down towards the rocker stud so lateral movement would more then likely be minimal and the rocker should hold pushrod in place right?
