Default 06 Sierra swap

My 5.3 locked up and i am replacing it and found a 08 5.3 and my question is will it work in my 06?

You can make it work but it is a gen 4 engine and you have a gen 3 engine. The 1999 to 2007 is a direct bolt in with the 05-07 being the better engine. You can also find a 5.3 L33 aluminum engine that will also be a direct bolt in. You can make the 08 work but you will have to change pcm and some wiring. the gen 4 has a 58 crank reluctor wheel while yours is a 24 crank reluctor wheel.

No need to change the wiring, just get a 58x to 24x converter, like the Lingenfelter box.

To keep it simple and cheap, I'd stay within your year 99-06. 5.3L engines (99-06) are all over the place for super cheap.
