Timing gear and pump or no?

Timing gear and pump or no? As the title states. Can't make up my mind on whether or not to do an oil pump and timing gear swap on my cam swap.
Car is an m6 55000 miles on the odometer. Only mods to date are long tubes and true duals. Only put on maybe 3000 miles a year and maybe 10 passes at the strip.
Cam going in is a tsp 233/239 600/600 lift 112 lsa.
Also doing the dual .660 lift springs and lifters and pushrods.
I'm basically wondering how risky is it to leave the stock timing gear and oil pump in the engine and how many of you have done it and what kind of reliability has been had.

I decided to replace mine since I had it all apart anyways. Oil pump was definitely a pain though. My stock timing chain also seemed a bit loose at 62k miles so if yours is too I would recommend the trick flow damper/adaptor for some insurance.

Ok cool thanks for the reply. I guess it's a risk leaving any old parts in after the cam swap

It seems like some people mess up the oil pump o-ring changing pump in car. If your oil pressure was fine i would just use your pump and chain especially with you low mileage. You very rarely hear of an oil pump failure or a timing chain braking on a LS motors.

agreed, I did my cam swap right at 100k, all I changed was the cam and springs. Just take your time and you'll be fine.

This is exactly what I was nervous about. Sometimes if the original GM parts aren't broke or low mileage why fix it. Just don't want to open a can of worms with my oil pressure. Pressure has always been good and care runs like a top. Always gets synthetic oil every year before storage.
