I'm assuming you don't expect it to be streetable.

You're going to need to bore/stroke it to the max, buy the best aftermarket heads available, large cam, and still probably need to run enough compression race gas will be your only option.

This is in addition to a badass intake manifold and all other bolt ons.

There is no way in hell you will get a stock bore/stroke 5.3 with CNC ported 799s to make that kind of power on pump gas IMO.

600 HP N/A 5.3?

You'll be replacing everything except for the block and crank.

The problem with building a 500 to 600 hp 5.3 is 1 it won't be street able it would be solid roller and really high compression on race gas. 2 you would be cost you will need aftermarket pistons to clear the valves with your monster cam, shaft mount rockers and a bad *** set of heads. After spending all that money you might as well have bought an ls3 that would make the same power and run on pump gas.

As mentioned many less expensive paths.

EZ way build for 400+ wrhp NA and spray for 200-300 hp more.

This article is a great starting point LS3 block + 4.8 crank 607 hp from a 339 or 5.5
Cut 14 CID and you have a 5.3, may be LS2 block + 4.8 crank and the best trick flow heads.

A harrop intake and a few other tricks should do the job.

What about a rod/piston 5.3, 13.5:1 cr, gnarly cnc ported 799's, big intake, cam motion llsr, and a lightweight valve train on e85....?

I mean a single turbo with gen4 guts in the 5.3 and turbo cam would make 600hp all day happily

No need for a turbo. Hell it can be did on motor. It can be done with a turbo setup cheaper tho. I just hate having to worry about boost issues so I'm a all motor guy.

Look at the link I posted above. 5.3 mild to wild and you'll see where a stroker 383ci made 603 horses with total engine airflow cnc ported heads with 11.0.1 compression. Bump the compression up to 11.5 and replace those heads with a TFS 220 or so head and I see 620 at the crank threw Tusky's telescope.....

Build a nice reliable forged piston, good heads and cam 5.3 them add a 250+ shot, that might be the easiest way to get there. Forget N/A.

You could do it with a 150 shot, 243's and a cam.
