Need to rebuild LS1 on a budget

Need to rebuild LS1 on a budget HI everyone
So my engine is knocking(02 B4c ls1 ) ,going to check and see if its in the heads this weekend. My buddy's shop already said its in the engine. Probably going to have to pull and rebuild. Im wanting to rebuild it and add a cam and head work . Doing everything myself and I have 2200 to spend . I really want to rebuild the bottom end but forged kits are like 1000 bucks and i still need money for a tune after im done . Car has a brand new trans less then 300 miles power built with a 3200 stall so cam size should not be a issue .
If you have parts for sale feel free to let me know .

You might not need a forged bottom end, as the stock one is surprisingly tough, but I don't know what power level you're going after. Just saying you might be able to save a bunch of money.
Just wondering, you said you got a new trans and converter, and you narrowed it to the motor but did you check converter bolts? If there not locktited they can back out and cause a knocking sound
