Thumbs up Cam help

I've got a bone stock 02 SS 6M, that I plan on doing some mods to. I will be keeping the LS6 intake and keeping the heads stock. I want to add a cam, full exhaust, and maybe some slightly bigger injectors. My end goal is a nice choppy idle with somewhere around 400-450whp at 4500 ft of elevation. Is this something that is achievable at this elevation and if not, what would I be looking at with said mods added?

You won't be getting to 450 without head work for sure. You also likely wouldn't need new injectors for cam only, but can verify their duty cycle once it's up and running. What cam are you looking at?

How would those two be equivalent? That EPS grind is adding 4° more split. Wouldn't an EPS 226/230 be a closer equivalent (2° less duration on each lobe maintaining the 4° split of the titan IV)?

If you want a cam to work really well, some form of head work is necessary. A nice set of 243/799 heads would help you a lot. Put a Stage I or 2.5 TSP port job (for example) on them and you should be well over 400HP at the very least. Just something to think about! My .02....

okay, head work is definitely recommended- NOTED

I was looking at
Torquer V2 232/234 .600/.600 112LSA
TSP 228/232 .600/.600 112 LSA
TSP Magic Stick 3 238/240 .600/.600 112 LSA

As for exhaust I'll be doing TSP 1 3/4 longs tubes along with their rumbler true dual.

I plan on running a fairly aggressive tune and I though some 30lb injectors would just be safe bet over stock. If they're not needed, some money saved.

Do 1 7/8 headers over the 1 3/4, grand prix gtp injectors(helps with budget, 42 lb at 58 psi), go with AI or TEA 243/799 heads, run .040 gaskets, and do at least a 228/232 cam. It will be close to 450 rwhp but you may need a fast 92 or 102 to actually hit the target.

There are a lot of sponsors to point you in the right direction..Martin Smallwood helped me with my set up and I achieved my goal of 450 rwhp on a mustang dyno through an auto with 4k stall

Thank you for the reply. honestly I'm more concerned with power than anything, would i love a nice super aggressive idle but its not something that I care excessively about.

Id suggest something the size of the TSP torquer 2. I think that size is the biggest cam i would run while still being easy drivable.

Another solid cam is speed inc SI5 231/237..

We've had excellent luck with our VRX4 and VRX5 camshaft grinds if you're looking for something similar to others you have posted. The X4 will retain a bit more low end grunt and a bit smoother idle, where the X5 will shine more in the mid-high RPM range with a more aggressive idle. Both drive extremely well on the street even with stock gearing. We're at just over 1,000ft elevation here and the X4 makes right at 390-400rwhp on our dyno in cam-only FBodies, and X5 will make just over 400. It's tough to crack over that without head work or a more "max effort" camshaft grind that may hinder driveability.

Let me know if I can assist with any questions on these or with putting together a camshaft kit for your needs!

Vengeance Racing VRX4 - 228/230 .588/.592 112+4
Vengeance Racing VRX5 - 236/238 .601/.605 113+2

Check out the tick LS2 SNS V2. Very good blend of the various cams that have been mentioned in here.
