Default which oil to use

I have a totally restored matching numbers 1965 Corvette with a freshly rebuilt 365HP 327. The engine now has 4000 miles on it. Should I continue to use Valvoline VR1 10w-30 oil or switch to Amsoil Zrod 10w-30 oil?

28 year AMSOIL user and dealer here (full disclosure).
In addition to 1200+ PPM ZDDP the ZRod has
Anti-corrosion & rust inhibitors that protect engines
that sit for long periods of time between use,
especially beneficial in non heated or climate controlled
garages in/or harsh environments.
Race Oils do not have rust/corrosion inhibitors as part
of their formulation as far as i am aware.
ZRod is a much better choice for your application IMO.
Driven also makes a similar product I believe.

I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance Full Synthetic and Matching Filter in all my engines. I have now started using the new Grade 5 Mobil 1 Annual Protection Ultimate Full Synthetic and Matching Filter, which they say is good for 12 months or 20,000 miles. We will see once I put it through its paces.

I have tested with Blackstone with all the top oils, which I wont name to prevent any arguments, and Mobil 1 had the best results at 10,000 miles of use.

Now Amsoil would be my second choice to use, their oil is top notch as well.

With a flat-tappet camshaft, like would have come stock in your 1965 corvette, you should run an oil with lost of Zinc (ZDDP). AMSOIL Z-Rod will work well for you.
