Gen III Rocker Arm Bolt Torque
Most torque references for OEM 8mmx1.25 bolts are 22 ft-lbs, but Joseph Potak's Book ("How to Build and Modify LS-Series Engines", 2009) lists 26 ft-lb for OEM Rocker Arm Bolts, per the Torque and Bolt Specifications table in the back of the book.
Chris Werner's book specifies 22 ft-lbs. Earlier threads on LS1 Tech seem to agree with 22 ft-lbs.
To me, this 4 ft-lb difference actually matters. Two of my rocker arm threads started to strip right around 22 ft-lb, so I am installing Timeserts to repair the affected threads. I may actually install Timeserts for all 16 holes, since now I'm concerned about the aluminum threads.
Is everyone using 22 ft-lbs?
