5.3 Cam Swap Hello, new to the forum...I've tried to search around for what I'm looking for but haven't found anything, I'm sure its there I just can't seem to find it...I have 5.3 Lm7 swapped into a foxbody with a TH350 and a manual valve body with a 3300 stall. I'm wanting to know what is the biggest streetable cam I can upgrade to and still maintain good vacuum. This car isn't a daily driver although I'd like to be able to drive it maybe 75 miles at the most to some car shows but mainly cruising around town or the strip occasionally. I will be porting the heads and uprgrading the intake later on down the road as well. Thanks!
Yes you could. I mean you can do whatever you want, of course...lol
The 5.3 displacement is a bit more sensitive to overlap. You could tighten to say 111 or 112. At 112 probably still be ok, but there would be some minor bucking. At 111, I think it'd start getting into pain in the *** territory. In general in a 5.3 I try to stay near zero overlap. In a 5.7, I'd go to 3-5 degrees overlap.
