Default question about camshaft LSA

what does it mean when a manufacturer says that a cam has a 112+2 LSA? im assuming its not the same as a 114, correct? (if it was, im guessing they would just call it a 114 instead).

ahh ok, i think i understand now. so 112+2 would mean it has a 112 LSA with 2 degrees of advance, right?

10/4 big buddy.
Cams can be very hard to figure out and explain, but it seems like once you figure them out they are quite simple.
Weird how that works. I am still waiting for them to become simple.

heres an easy way to think about it. when u look at a cam, the lobes are in pairs...intake and exhaust. take the first two for example. look down the cam from end to end. the first two lobes will be pointing in different directions. think of the cam as the center of the circle. draw a circle around the cam. draw two lines, one from each lobe pointing straight out to the edge of the circle. the distance around that circle from point to point(the points being where the lobe lines met the edge of the circle) is your lobe separation angle. it will be the shorter of the two distances...in other words, it will be 112 degrees, not 248 degrees. anwyay, im blabbin, but i hope that helped
