Default slight ticking noise when hot

1971 chevy c10
This is my daily, 5 years ago i bought a 350 crate engine off ebay, cheap nothing special mild comp cam bored .30 70's block, edelbroc quadrajet 600 carb...we put the distributer on 180 deg off on first key turn and had a nasty back fire, once we got it running it ran fine, but for the last 5 years everytime the engine gets hot i here a very slight tapping, trust me i know it aint exaust leak at this pont, im wondering if it can be a bent rod? its not a loud tap but i know its there

You DO knw this is an LS engine forum, right? There is a forum for the older Gen I engines on this site. You might get a good answer there.
