Default LQ9 Pushrods length

Hi guys ,

i almost finish building my engine . I have a 2005 6.0 with a BTR TRUCK STAGE II CAM .I put 243 stock heads and stock oem lifters . BTR recommends a 7.400" pushrod with unmilled heads. I used a comp cams pushrod length checker and came out with 7.325", then i added 0.060" for lifter preload and matched the 7.385" . So I am new at this and was wondering if I am right with the numbers. Also do I need specific pushrods besides 5/16 and both ends are balled? Do I have to have the exact 0.060 lifter preload or can i use 0.050" and go with 7.375 pushrods?

Using oem lifters you should do as the vender suggested. Run 7.4 rods. The stock lifters won't mind the preload. If you use shorter pushrods in this set up, you will risk a noisy valve train.

.075" preload will be great on the stock GM lifters.

There are probably 1000's of threads just on that issue . Honestly valve train noise is not something I know much about with LS based engines . Good luck
