Default Pistion and rod questions....

I have a 5.3 that I received completely torn down to bare block. The Rods and pistons were not marked from what cylinder they came from.... what do I need to do to reuse these rods? I have new pistons going on them as well. Thanks

The factory doesn't "match" or "balance" things the way we do.

What they do is, as rods come off the line, they sort them into an n-dimensional array of various properties (total weight, big end weight, small end weight, etc.) and when they get 8 in one bin, they put em on a crank.

Not at all like taking 8 rods and making em identical, then matching a crank to that, or any such thing.

So, if you have 8 factory rods out of the same motor, and the crank they came on, they're all pretty much the same... more or less equally out of "perfect". Doesn't really matter which goes where, they're all equally wrong no matter where you put em.
