LQ4 with 799 heads
Ive got a 2000 suburban 3/4 ton with the LQ4 and iron heads with a few broken exhaust manifold bolts throwing intermittent lean bank codes (thanks gm for that design). I’ve got a buddy with a set of 799 heads for me.
I won’t have them milled down at all, except maybe just to clean up the surface. I’ll be using a stock width head gasket.
I know that to make the most out of the swap I SHOULD put in a better cam and in the near future I will be getting a tune from Nelson or black bear.
My question is this, can I just swap heads and nothing else? Will the ecm be able to adjust fuel/timing off of the base line with the upped CR without issues?
Thanks in advance!

I'd also run premium fuel and consider the GT2-3 cam in the future....maybe pop the GM blue springs on now that way you're all set for the cam swap later if the Lingenfelter is the way you choose to go
