Default Any updates on most HP on a 5.3?

So my ls1 ran a little too lean and melted part of piston #7 so in the mean time i'm swapping in a 5.3 out of a 2002 tahoe but was curious on if anybody has broke over 400whp. Plan on swapping over my Texas Speed 2.5L 5.3 heads and my torquer v4 cam as far as lifters etc, i'm hoping to break 400whp because previously on this setup for my ls1 i broke 436/411 but obviously don't have the displacement for it.

I know it's not a straight correlation like this, however you are going from a 5.7 to a 5.3 liter which is about a 9.3% reduction in displacement. Your goal is to make 400rwhp, which is about a 8.3% reduction in power. So my guess is that even if you fall short you'll be close. That aside, why do you think you ran lean? I'd be curious if it was mechanical related or tune related.

What will the SCR/DCR be with the heads/cam combo on the 5.3l? The factory LS1 had a 10.2:1 CR
The 5.3l had 9.5:1 CR which might leave the 5.3l a little soft in the lower/mid rpm range. At the top of the rpm range I think the smaller motor would be 20-30 down from the LS1

So i should be around the 400whp range with my Texas Speed heads swapped over.. interesting. Also i was told the Gen III 5.3's could only take maybe at max a 75 shot and some people have also told me they'd easily take 150-200. Any advice or recommendations?

Don't know where you heard about nitrous and 5.3l's .? There are plenty 5.3l's running turbo's and nitrous just like any other LS based engines. Web search is your friend

Oh yeah, forgot about the reduced compression. I don't know if you've had your heads milled or not, that could help you retain more power. The 5.3 can take a sizable shot, browse through the nitrious oxide subforum stickies and ask around.
