Send it or machine shop?
Anyway, a few days ago I picked up a dropout LQ4 that I had planned on swapping over to 243 heads with a streetable cam. I got the motor on the stand and there were a few red flags so I decided to pull the heads now and take a peek at what I'm working with. It looks to me like the drivers bank maybe had a leak because there is some very slight surface rust on #5 wall and the whole thing looks like its been hit with copper spray. Not only that, but the spark plugs were different between banks. This is my first time running into something like this so I wanted to get some opinions on where to go from here.
On the upside, it wasn't rust. Best I can figure the #5 was at bdc when they sprayed the entire topside with copper and the rings just forced it to accumulate at the top of the cylinder. I hit it with some brakekleen and a rag,all shiny and smooth now. Probably still tear it all the way down.
