crank relearn ???
has anyone ever had this done- I'm not getting any codes but I feel the hp is down. what is done with the tech2 to do the relearn- has anyone seen it done? please explain the proceedure- thanks
Its a procedure that's generally only needed when you install a new PCM, a new crank or crack sensor, or a new engine altogether. The Case Learn helps the PCM detect misfires while accounting for normal variations in crankshaft speed. Its done on a TechII usually, but I think HPTuners, et. al, can do it too. With the TechII the menus should just walk you through the procedure. IIRC, on a Tech II it can be found under the Diagnostics Menu + Special Functions... not 100% sure on that though.
Oh I imagine they'll charge you, but shouldn't be bad. Its about a 5-10 minute process. Just make sure they know what they're doing -especially if you have aftermarket tuning. If you're not careful they may reflash your PCM instead or in addition to.
If there's a question, have them lookup DTC P1336 - that calls for the Crankshaft Position Variation Relearn Procedure.

I don't have a miss but like I said power seems low- I did put in a new crankshaft- the ring may have been put on 5 degrees off- I took it off the old shaft- will this relearn help
