Its a procedure that's generally only needed when you install a new PCM, a new crank or crack sensor, or a new engine altogether. The Case Learn helps the PCM detect misfires while accounting for normal variations in crankshaft speed. Its done on a TechII usually, but I think HPTuners, et. al, can do it too. With the TechII the menus should just walk you through the procedure. IIRC, on a Tech II it can be found under the Diagnostics Menu + Special Functions... not 100% sure on that though.

Does the dealership usually charge to do this?

Thanks,

Oh I imagine they'll charge you, but shouldn't be bad. Its about a 5-10 minute process. Just make sure they know what they're doing -especially if you have aftermarket tuning. If you're not careful they may reflash your PCM instead or in addition to.

If there's a question, have them lookup DTC P1336 - that calls for the Crankshaft Position Variation Relearn Procedure.

If you put in a new crank then its something you should do no matter what. Will it help your power? I kinda doubt it, but I don't know.
