If you are on a budget and you are only building a car that is a fun toy to drive, you could consider leaving the 5.3 or 4.8 untouched and upgrading your fuel system to be boost ready. There are a lot of budget turbo builds out there on stock bottom ends making decent power. For now I would focus on the wiring, fuel, and mounting of the motor. Then install your turbo kit. Then once you really want to make power you can swap in a forged bottom end.
