Default Issue with PRC 247CC heads?

Hi,

I installed a set of PRC 247CC heads. These are the aftermarket casting of the six bolt heads. Came across this weirdness on finishing off the motor:

The steam ports leaked on every corner. Tightened. Changed seals. Still leaked.

Found the threaded holes to be full of coolant -wtf? Blew air into the threaded hole and coolant came out of the smooth bore. These should not be connected at all!

I put thread sealant on the bolts that hold down the steam tubes and block offs. It seems to have stopped the leak for now. But I am not used to using thread sealant on pressurized systems.

Are these heads supposed to be like this or is that a machining error? This seems like a bad situation to be. It isn't a great way to seal. They should have gone with the stock method of a blind threaded hole and an open bore or just gave us a single npt threaded hole. Worried this is going to leak down the road sometime.

I called TSP and they didn't even seem interested in looking into it. No offer to replace them. The guy said he would let his machinist know and hung up the phone w/o taking my call back number. Pretty disappointed as all my previous dealing with them were spot on.

I’m having the same issue. I’m using the hardline steam port kit and even after ptfe paste, I’m getting coolant seep under pressure. I just went back with right stuff on the threads and under the blocks so I’ll see if it holds. What was your outcome?

Nawww I never got anywhere with the issue and the motor has passed on to a new owner. I mean it's not a deal breaker but a heads up would have been nice or if TSP would just fix the machining error.

I got some professional ptfe based pipe dope and it fixed the issue. Never had any leaks.

For what it’s worth my 247s from 2013-2014 didn’t have that issue.

My 225 as cast did the same thing. I just put some ultra grey I think it was under the blocks. Very small amount and tightened them up. Hasn’t leaked since.
