99 LS1 Camaro Harland Sharp rockers
I had a local shop install a Brian Tooley stage 3 cam and spring kit. I had them also install Harland Sharp rocker arms, ARP bolts and GM’s MLS head gasket I believe.051 thickness. Then they dyno tuned it. At the pipe it sounds great, at the engine has a bit of sounds like lifter tick. What scares me is that at 2800-3000 RPM they are really noisy. I mean inside the car at speed to the point I lifted because sounded like no oil. They said they installed my new comp cams Chrome Moly stock length push rods. I’m wondering if they are to short but that’s what they told me to get??
They said they measured for the length but I asked what was the preload set at, they said what?? I said preload, they never did tell me just it was measured correctly. With the mods I have anyone feel stock length push rods would be right on?

I installed some in some stock heads that were ported and polished and they were hitting & sticking inside the heads. Had the same noise too, loud ticking. I pulled the covers off and seen the wear marks on the heads and the lifters and noticed 5 push rods (4 driver side, 1 passenger side) were down in the head and not coming up when I turned the motor by hand.
Pulled the heads off and found 3 lifters destroyed. Plungers collapsed, roller on the lifter broken, pin inside the roller coming out and the worse part, 3 lobes on the cam had groves beyond .050.
I had these rockers in my other motor with Dart heads and had no issues, plenty of space, no wear and no damaged parts.
Pull a cover and see what is happening before it trashes the motor!!
