408 stroker cam help

Default 408 stroker cam help

hey guys i am currently have thompson motorsports build me a 408 stroker motor for my 04 gto. I will be running had ported 243 heads with ls6 intake manifold. i realize that the heads are going to choke the motor a bit up top but i really am out of money for now. the car has a plate kit on it and will probably see a 200 hit of nitrous on 91 pump. i am up at elevation of 5500ft in new mexico. The DA is usually 6500 to 9000ft here so i am fighting elevation bad. compression should be close to 11:1 thompson specd me a cam that is this:

236/250 .625/.625 115lsa

the car is going to be a weekend fun car with the track maybe 2 a year. and i want the car to have a decent lope at idle and have a good powerband but still pull decent up top. is that cam going to get me there? what can of idle should i expect? and what kind of power band? will this work well with the nitrous? thanks

That sounds like more of a nitrous grind over a n/a one. If it's mainly going to be driven n/a I'd choose a different cam. That's just my opinion

nitrous cams tend to hurt NA torque ,some time they are ground to release some cylinder pressure .

I just want a cam that has a good lope at idle, and runs strong na but responds decent to nitrous. I had a torque v3 cam in my ls1 gto and it had good top end and did well on nitrous.

That cam should sound oretty good with that duration, but again if it's mainly a n/a street car I'd choose something more befitting of thst

Anything with at least 8 degrees of split should respond very well to spray.

A cam properly specced for the motor should respond very well to nitrous. No need for a "nitrous cam". It'll only hurt the n/a performance with minimal(if any) gains to performance on spray.
