Default High mileage cam bearings?

Ok so looking to see if anyone had experience with high mileage cam bearings? My trans am has 254,000 miles bone stock never been opened and am getting ready for a mild cam while I refresh the motor. What are the chances they pull out with the cam. It'll dictate if I pull the motor or do it all in the car.

The cam bearings shouldn't come out when removing the cam. The only issue will be if they are too worn or not. I have seen 190k motors get a new cam using stock bearings without issue. For peace of mind you could get the bearings and rings replace and have the shortblock reassembled while it's out. What did you mean by "refresh" the motor exactly?

Of course you won't know till you measure them but if the oil pressure is good you are probably ok. Replacing the cam bearings in these engines is a major deal. Not a simple knock um out press them in type of thing. Need a experienced machine that has done these.

nothing crazy just a mild cam and new springs lifters, oil pump etc. Have a lifter tick once in a blue moon. Oil pressure is iffy, first start up it's at 40 then warm about 30 and sometimes hits 60 WOT sometimes only 50-55 and hot it idles at 25-30 and same deal hitting 60 is hit or miss.

When you do a cam install don't look at the bearings! Then you know they are good

The only way a bearing would come out with a cam is if the bearing had seized to it. At that point, the motor would not turn.

Thanks for all the replies. So only shot at guessing without pulling it apart is maybe oil pressure issues? I don't believe mine are of that nature but if someone knows the symptoms that'd be good knowledge?

ahem. you can spin a cam bearing and run the 20+ passes in the 11's wondering why it makes less power on more boost.
i did some testing on that personally last season

actually itll run just fine, still have great oil pressure and you'll think to yourself, "I'm just gonna swap this cam out really quick-like"........ then you'll find yourself using your cutting tool of choice, cutting that little pos off so you can remove said cam.
this was on 200k motor.
