Default Parts storage assistance needed!

Hello,
I have disassembled my engine completely! WooHoo (Not bad for a 17 yr old)
Only question I have is what is the best way to store my parts, I purchased a complete rebuild kit from ws6 store so a lot of the parts will be replaced, but I plan on keeping the oil pan, pick up tube, and Crankshaft and the Main Caps, and possibly the connecting rods, Im still debating that because I want to get new ones for piece of mind or just keeping the stock connecting rods and just upgrading the bolts... I would have to get a rezise... Im still researching my best option without killing my wallet! Also this motor is completely stock (Until now) with 175k miles on it... It was in EXCELLENT condition!
I am rebuilding it because I want to cam it but would like to keep it reliable and also have a piece of mind knowing things are new!

Anyways I am going to be storing these parts for a long time so I want to make sure everything stays safe to reuse!

Also, How can I place the crankshaft when it is out? Its the last thing in the block but I do not want to mess it up by placing it the wrong way!!!

Thank you!

There is no “one and done” way to successfully accomplish this for long term. You will need to coat the steel and iron parts in oil, and your going to have to re-oil them every so often, depends on your storage environment temps, humidity, etc. Use a quality oil, not wd-40 type stuff, unless you want to literally spray them every other day.
You will want to store the crankshaft standing up on its bottom.

Cool! Thank you for your help! Only one question, what type of oil would you suggest? I heard of using BG mixed with conventional oil... as for my environment... Its Virginia, it can get a bit humid here and can definitely get hot
