Default 5.3 info

I have an iron 5.3 LS complete motor sitting around our shop. I'm wondering how fare the block can be bored SAFELY? I'm kicking ideas around. I've been wanting to do an LS into my S-10 ever since I bought it new. My budget is to do it right but w/o spend outrageous amounts of money. I'll be doing all the work myself other than machine work. I'm sure it'll move the little truck in stock form but why leave it stock

Does it need boring, or you just want to get as much displacement as possible? I think the iron blocks can go .040, but this is not from a very reliable source. Plus my memory might be fuzzy, lol. But .040 sticks in my head...

Thanks, G Atsma for the fast reply. I'm not sure if it needs it or not. I'm just kicking ideas around. I've read that people are boring up to a 5.7. Yeah you know it, I'm wanting to get the most out of it as possible just like everyone, hehehe What does + 0.40 translate to, do you know?

My reference books indicate that almost all of the iron 5.3 blocks can safely go to 5.7 liters. The risks are whether there was any slight core shifting that occurred during the casting process and only your machinist can answer a question like that about your particular block.
