Default 1998 trans am LS1 piston rods

Ok, can anyone tell me what direction the piston rods need to be facing?
The rod caps have a flat side and a radius on the other. According to the info i have found it says to install the rods with the flat side towards the front of the engine. When i went to the machine shop to pick up my engine block, one of the engine builders there that has many years of experience told me to install the rods with the flat side facing each other. So now i am not sure. Can someone help?

The flat sides face each other, the radiused sides face the fillets of the crank journals. Do it any other way and you WILL have problems!

It doesn't matter with stock rods. You just need to make sure the pistons are facing the right way..

Alright, here is another one. My LS1 engine was bored +.25mm over and i bought Hastings +.25mm over piston rings. So i start taking ring gap measurements and Im getting .022 for the 1st ring and .027 for the 2nd ring constantly.
I believe this is to much gap for a daily driver. I am not supercharging or running nitrous. Im using Sealed Power Hyper flat top pistons H868CP +.025mm.

What do you guys recommend?

Look for the next oversize piston rings; I’m guessing .50mm is next. That should allow you to file fit the rings to the bores, but you might end up having to grind a lot. In my experience, the file fit rings are aboit .005” over the bore diameter and might have no gap at all out of the box.

Ok, my 98 trans am has the fuel pressure regulator built into the fuel pump assembly inside the tank. The stock fuel rails on the intake has a fuel damper.
I am using an aftermarket manufactured aluminum intake from sharpcustomperformance.com with a 92mm throttle body and stock injectors. Do I need this fuel damper?
