Default Crank but no start

Hey guys,

new 5.3, fitech ultimate LS setup.

Heads, cam, flat tops, etc


motor cranks and blows fireballs out the exhaust, like it’s out of time..

we did swap valve covers, from driver to pass to put the fill cap on the easier to access side, are the coil pack setups specific to each side?

Tried a second crank sensor from another 5.3 no different... thinking maybe the chain is a tooth off?

Any other ideas?

I'm assuming you've got some kind of PCV bypass (maybe an LS6 cover?) since the hoses on the valve covers are specific to each side...

Coil packs should be universal. You can always swap the coil packs to the other side to see if it makes a difference. Bracket just unbolts from the valve cover.

I'm assuming this is some kind of swap? ie, not a vette or fbody or truck?

You need to swap coils/brackets back to original sides. The terminals in the main connectors for each bank are not pinned the same so your plugs arent firing at the correct time.

Swapped the coil racks back, Cranked 3-4 more times and Viola started right up.. FITECH said sometimes, it takes extended cranking for the ECU to get cam/Crank sensors to phase up Also.. Good info for anyone looking at their kits in the future.

Ive got a comp XR275HR in the Motor, And the idle sounds super smooth... Shouldn't i get some chop, Especially with Open headers right now..?

Yes its a swap, In our race jeep.
The fire out the exhaust tells you it was firing out of time, not that you didn't hold the key down long enough. So swapping the coil packs was your fix.
