Another pushrods preload question
Hey all, I put a titan4 cam in over the winter, and when I measured for pushrods I came up with 7.326-7.333". I added .074"-.067" preload, and decided the stockers would work. I started it and let it run to re-prime the lifters, and then pulled the rocker covers back off to verify. I found no lash up and down, but am able to wiggle them side to side, does this mean I have too little/ no preload on the lifters, or is that normal? When I say side to side, I mean I have very slight play in the fulcrum, but again, no lash up and down against the pushrods or valve stem. This doesn't seem right to me.
The side to side rocker tip movement is normal.
However, the stock pushrods are going to flex and loft the lifters in the higher RPM range. You need larger OD pushrods if you want to control an aftermarket cam with aftermarket valve springs.
