Default Ls1 hone

I know this sounds scary to me but is it ok to hone an 99 ls1 out? Anyone have any horror stories or should this be fine like .007?

Shop just did mine and took it out about. 003” over if that.

I have read in many places that early LS1's can't handle more than .05 boring/honing. Sounds like "caution" is the word here with early blocks..
