Since this seems to be as good a place as any - I'm debating between the 8715 and the 8707 myself. Completely stock '00 LS1 longblock today, got a TBSS intake manifold that will go on it eventually once I finish the other projects on the truck. Longtube headers, relatively short exhaust with an X-pipe, bone stock 4L60E in a '70 C10.

As much as I'd like to swap to ported 243s or something wilder on the heads, I'm probably not going to have that kind of money anytime soon. The truck is only a toy at this point so I'm not hugely concerned about its manners in stop and go traffic. I would like it to finally get past the low 14s it's been more or less stuck at since the LS1 went in.

My heart says 8707 to make some more noise, my head says the 8715 is a better choice.

What gear and converter are you going with?

Truck currently has a 3.73 and the stock stall. I'm not opposed to changing either of those long term, but whatever I get will have to live with that for some time - since if I regear then I want a limited slip, and then I'd want to put that in a housing set up for trailing arms, and then...

"And then" are two very, very dangerous words with this truck

You may want to take a look at the SUM-8713 as well. That's the Summit Pro LS truck stage 3 222/232 112 +5 .545/.545. It's down just a bit of lift, but it has great lobes and we tuned it to idle like a champ and work great in the midrange. It does work with a factory converter, but it would be a lot of fun with a converter in it.

Finally got through this whole thread. Now I have to call summit to get a recommendation for one of these cams for my car and their pulley. This is probably one of the best threads I have read on here. Awesome job Mavn!

Just got my car back running. I’ll soate you the details because I don’t want to muck up his thread. But while the car was apart, I bout mavn’s Ghost cam and put it in. Here’s a idle clip at about 725rpm. It’s much quieter than the btr stage 2 I had.

almost. Stock it sounded pretty bad. When I get some time I’ll tune it, it runs good enough to drive.

“It’s stock?” Yep. “Are you sure?” Yep. “Ok, I’ll give you three lengths.” That’s why Mavn called it The Ghost.

No dyno on the stage 2 yet? What's it drive like?

Also jonesing to see what you're going to do with the fuel system (re: E85).

It drives just as good as the stage 2 to be honest.. But I feel like drivability is 100% in the tune.. good tuner = Good drivability

Here's a question. This build, i.e., the "Ghost" cam, was done using the TEA S2.5 heads as that was what you got a deal on.

So with this cam and a clean paper (no budget???), what would you get for heads with this cam?

Honestly, I would go with the same heads myself on a build like this. TEA does awesome work. As mentioned, TEA ported 243's and maybe have Tooley touch them up for a little extra attention to detail. Maybe even the stage 1 and stick with stock valves

Quick Reply: Mavns Summit cam build. Just made 450+ rwhp.. Stage 2 cam aka the Tire Puller...
