Default Is this normal ?

I just built a 408 stroker And have it in the car I started it up and a bloom of black/dark gray smoke shot out but for the most part it went away when i shut the car off and started it again it did the same thing. Is it just because its not tuned? The spark plug is black and leaves a graphite looking color on my fingers when rubbed off. The spark plug doesn't seem to smell like oil but rather gas. I'm just trying to make sure its because it needs a tune and i dont have a bad ring or seal.

You've just been told of an excessively rich condition, not oil fouling. Everything you mentioned above points to that. Go with that because that's the problem.

+1 on too rich.

If you know it needs a tune, it would be in your best interest to take care of it ASAP with a new engine build. Running it rich not only robs performance but excessive fuel in the cylinders could prevent the rings and cylinder walls from wearing in correctly, which could lead to bigger problems down the road. Once the tune is right, you can turn your focus to any other causes of smoke if the problem is still there.

Stop running it untuned

If it isn't tuned it should be lean, unless the previous tune was for a larger motor than what you have now. Or it could be previously a stock tune and now having a big cam it's fueling too much at idle.

Could be a stuck injector... maybe

I see what looks like a lot of little specs. That's usually metal.

Do a compression check also.

Change the oil too. Running really rich gets fuel in the oil and washes it out and washes the rings. Will ruin your new motor fast.

why would their be metal on the spark plug? I barely ran it only 3 times and for only a few seconds.

Don't know if it's metal for sure or not but it may be. If so it's probably rings and cylinder liner material.

And if it's running super rich it will be destroying the rings because it washes the oil off the rings and they go metal to metal on the cylinder walls.

ok that makes sense. I'm taking it to a tuner today after work and having it tuned then changing the oil see what I find. I didn't see metal flakes on my finger but it did leave graphite like coloring on it
