Default Compression question

asking for a friend.

ot a Lq9 to do direct swap with 5.3 - turned out it had spun bearings (no resolution with salvage yard, another story). Took to machine shop to install bearings, hone and install new pistons, and shave head to get to 10.5:1 static CR. Plan was use factory Lq9 pistons, and shave heads .030.

Engine builder ordered wrong 6.0 pistons (lq4) and shaved heads ~ .045 to obtain 63.5 cc combustion chamber. He ordered thinner .030 cometic mls gasket with smaller bore to get the desired 10.5:1.

motor will be NA. No nitrous or boost

.030” is an awfully thin HG for an LS engine. Are you sure your piston is below the deck that far?

It sounds like your friend needs a new engine builder.
