Default Cam Question

Hey guys, I just got back from spring break and found a message on my machine saying that I won a free Dyno-tune from LS1Speed. This is like $400 bucks, which I wanted to have my car tuned anyway, but I wanted to get my cam installed before I spent that much for a Dyno tune. Needless to say, I am now going to get the cam before I have the dyno tune done, so my question is which one should I get. I heard a ZL1 run at the Chicago Vettefest, and love it. I want to be able to drive it daily to work (40 miles each way on the expressway) but I want it loopey. I checked out their website and think that this one seems do able:

Up to 400RWHP is obtainable with this fast ramp cam with bolt ons, STOCK heads, and dynotuning in an M6 car Lift: .581/.581 Dur@.050: 224/224 LSA: 112 114

I really don't have the money to have the heads ported right now, and I currently don't have headers but do have a cutout, so I seems like it will be pretty free flowing. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!!!!

Default Re: Cam Question

That sounds like the MTI C2 cam. This cam will meet your requirements, but so will a lot of others. It seems to come down to personal prefference . . . This cam has a lot of lift for stock heads and it has XE-R lobes which are pretty aggresive which means it will need some really good springs, and even then will have some valve train noise. IMO, it would be too much for stock heads on a daily driver. I'd drop back to the C1 cam if I were you, but then that's just my opinion. The specs on the C1 are 222/222/ .566/.566 112, and LS1speed has a version of this cam that they sell for a little less than the MTI cam.

Yeah that cam could make you 400RWHP... but I would think only with a good set of headers and ORY is that acheavable I also agree that this is a lot of lift for stock heads but it has been done before. The cam that was sugested sounds like it would alsot put you neer your goal. Now the LSA it depends on what you want.... since you will be getting a good tune after I would go with the 112 for that nice sound

Good luck
