Default PRC 225 or Ported 243

Just looking to see if its worth the money to get the PRC 225s vs a set of PRC ported 243s. I have a set of 243s now but thinking of selling them and getting the 225s instead. Thoughts? Worth the hassle?

The ported 243's are 225cc from TSP. I don't really see much gains to be had from their casting.

Depends ..Goals? , what cam? , boost? ( a need for thicker deck ) .. my experience, the PRC225’s you can run a bigger cam w/o worry of having to flycut, especially if your chasing a higher compression ratio, my cam I couldn’t mill much at all with out having to fly cut on 243’s , however, Aftermarket PRC225’s or comparable head , you can achieve higher CR with milling..

I just put prc 220's on mine this past winter, I opted for them over 243/799 because I didn't have cores, and the price difference between brand new 220's and used 243/799's wasn't a lot, so I decided to go new aftermarket. Was it worth it? I don't know, the car made 427 rwhp, but it probably would have been close to that with worked 243/799's. I did like thicker decks just in case I ever decide to force feed it.

I've been going back and forth for a while about going aftermarket vs the set of 243s I have sitting on the shelf. I have yet to do it but I'm just going to get ther 243s worked. Thoughts behind this is 243 are pretty good castings but honestly these cars are getting up there in mileage and although LS1 market is still strong most of the love seems to be heading towards the LS3 and newer platforms. I'm at about 78k miles and although that's still fairly low if my engine **** the bed I'm gonna move up to the LS3 and would rather save the $$ for that.
