Introducing myself
Hey guys..... I'd like to say I'm happy to join the board. I'm always VERY active in tech discussions, and I hope I can make a contribution here. To be perfectly honest..The reason I found this board is because I was allerted to the fact that my name/work was mentioned here, and I felt it appropriate to respond/introduce myself.
This post is a tagalong to a post link I was sent. I guess it inspired me to become a member of the board. The post was about FRE "Big Uglies" that are my mid-level ported cylinder heads.
There is very little I can do to settly any apprehension amongst people that think the LS1 is so different in the way of the I.C.E. (Internal Combustion Engine) dynamics than any other engine when trying to make it better. Airflow, fuel mixture, and combustion, all fall under the same laws of physics. To be perfectly honest, I've found the LS1 head to be one of the easiest and most resonsive to mods of current OEM head castings.
I'm not here to beat on my chest and play the salesman. I design cylinder heads and race engines..Period. The heads in question in this particular thread are my "mid-level" head and will be tested on a chassis dyno against his current LS6 heads that have been ported by someone else. And I'm sure the results will be more than positive. That's all I can say there. So far, all revues I've had have been beyond expectation.
Like I said, I'm not here to make a sales pitch......I just wanted to introduce myself and cover a few bases.
Thanks
Felber

Just a note from a local Florida Boy. I've never had Felber do any work for me, but his reputation in the race community is top notch. I'm guessing if you were to poll many of the top local racers in the area that are running really fast, this guy has something to do with it.
Welcome to the board.

Welcome Felber, this is a great site, very informative and sometimes amusing and entertaining. Its always nice to her from someone with hands on experience and is able to back up what they say.I agree the ls1 head is an easy head to port, when I first started looking on this site it was like the ls1 head was totally different than any other, and in a lot of ways that is true, but it still responds to the same porting techniques as other heads. You will find there is some strong opinions and ideas on here as well as a sometimes reluctance to accept things that are new or different or that are not commonly used. This site can be addictive as it is to me, I have to check it out everyday to see whats new.Welcome aboard and I look forward to your input!!!FASTONE

Welcome aboard. We can always use more options when it comes to performance parts. Get your stuff together with some specs and become a sponsor. Let's see what ya got.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. And certainly for the words from one of my fellow Floridian brohs. J
As for posting numbers and possibly sponsoring the board, I'm all for it. But that's all in due time. If I were to be completely honest, I'm more of a competitor than an aggressive businessman. I can barely keep up with demand I already have, and would rather win a lot, and have people wait a little bit, then hire a bunch of kids to pump out 6 sets of heads a day so I can get rich.
Which brings to light my mid-level head vs my race heads. 90% of all my portwork is for the hardcore class racer. I develop all my heads as race heads, and continuously look for more, as data comes back to me, and ideas pop up in the shop or even over a couple beers during a bench racin session. As for some of my heads I make available more to the public perse', they’re race heads without question…They’re just designed to perform in their intended environment, not be good for nothing more than bragging rights. I always try to take them to the outer limits then back it down a notch and get feedback of reliability and overall performance, rather than just flow figures and a bunch of hype before I release them to the average guy.
Right now in my opinion, my "race" heads far outperform the intake manifolds available, and I save for people I can work directly with on the whole combination. Read as; I don't send out heads I have taken to the absolute extreme to people that would do just as well with a “mid-level” piece, and save a lot of coin, or to people that buy a hardcore Ti valve, welded head then bolt on a gasket-matched intake that has runners three yards too long, and very resistant to modification . Let's face it......I call it "The land of diminishing returns" when someone makes 500-600HP NA and will kick *** with a 300cfm head, and has little need for a 330cfm piece that costs twice as much, I'll sell it if they insist, but I certainly won't push it to them.
If you're a class racer and/or have deep pockets, I'll do whatever you want, and face anyone else's stuff without batting an eye. But I'm not gonna sell you what you don't need just because you think more is always better, and I can get more money out of you.
Sorry for the long read, and I probably didn’t convey half of what was intended, but I gave it my best try on my first day. LOL
