After endless searches on 5.3 carbed motors, i cant get a clear idea on what is the best head to run for strip car. Car will weigh 3400, 3500stall ,4:11 gear 28/10.5 tire. Motor is sbe, btr stage 3 ls1 cam with all btr upgrades. Im to the point i need to figure the head situation out an whats the best for upping the compression as much as possible without slapping new pistons in.

 

You might want to be more specific, Are you talking about stock castings? Ported stock? Aftermarket?

243s or 799s...best stock oem casting for a 5.3 that I know of

 

I do have a set of 243s ive thought about but was told it would lower compression to much, unless i could mill them? I also have heard to use 706 heads to gain compression. I would have to located a set of those tho which isnt hard.
