Default Head gasket thickness

I got a 2002 z28 with the 5.7 ls1 in it. Engine is getting boosted and will see 10-12 lbs of boost. Was wondering what thickness i should get or just what type of head gaskets in general. Heads are stock 241s and the block is stock as well. id like to be at 9.5 to the stock 10.1 CR. Thanks

shouldnt use the headgasket to reduce compression, the engine will be more likely to detonate at 9.5 to 1 using a thicker gasket then it would be at 10 to 1 with a stock gasket. reducing quench with a thinner gasket to optimal will raise compression but will help reduce knock.

According to my spreadsheet you'd have to add about 5.5cc to the chamber volume, assuming it's 66.67cc stock for the 241 heads and keeping the stock gasket.

Agreed on not using the head gasket to do it.

And 10:1 really isn't bad on boost.

Last boost motor I did was 10:1 and I was happy I stayed there. If you really want a cheap easy way to drop comrpession go with 317 heads. But I wouldn't worry too much about 10:1, I'd be more concerned about finding a really good tuner since a bad one can blow a 9.5 motor anyway lol
