Default Lq4 build Help

I have a 04 lq4 thats going into a 04 rcsb Silverado. My plans for the engine before I install it is to install a set of 799 heads that I have laying around, a Texas speed torquer v4 cam and supporting mods (springs, pushrods, oil pump, ls7 lifters), and tbss intake. The truck already has lt headers, true dual exhaust, cai, and e fans. My goal is to make 450rwhp, is that possible with what Im going to do to it or what can help me get there? I was also planning to send the heads to Texas speed to mill them a bit and port them but if I can reach or be around the power goal I would leave them stock.

That sounds a little optimistic to me. I'd be happy with 400 on that setup.

My 403, (LQ4 block bore 4.005") with stroker crank, flat top pistons and with 243 heads (same as 799) and a Polluter stg 3 cam just makes 450 at the wheels. I don't foresee a stock block, crank, and pistons even with a cam can make that without a power adder.

That seems a bit high and if I had to guess you should make 410 or so. Good heads and intake bring you up to probably 460 but you need compression too, I would mill those heads since you have a LQ4 with dish pistons.

Do you have a link to the build where someone made 439 with basically the same stuff you are going to use? I'd like to read through that.

I have a set of 799 heads and I want to send them to Texas speed to mill them to bring compression up and port them.

Thanks for the link. He did pretty good for such a basic build

He has a couple of things helping, he has a manual trans which ups the power 10-15 over an auto, even more if the auto is stalled

He also said he milled the heads to 61 cc and had a valve job. Now if he had a valve job as in a 3 or 5 angle that can make some pretty good power. He didn't go into detail about the valve job but said he had it done at west coast cylinder heads, I would imagine that means he had a multi angle cut done, not just lapped in.

By the way, with 243 heads what I would want more than anything is to do any milling if necessary, bowl blend, and a multi angle valve job and back cut the intake valves. Ask texas speed how much they charge to do that. Most of your power will come from those things anyway if you wanted to have the heads fully ported etc. In other words I would have port work at the bottom of my list if I was looking for bang for buck.

What vehicle is yours going in, what trans, etc?

Keep in mind not all dynos are the same either, far from it really. So you can only use his example as a general example. His wheels and tires will make a difference, the temperature, the drive shaft, the transmission etc..

PRC CNC Porting/Machining Service Includes:
  • Disassembly
  • Deep Cleaning
  • CNC Porting
  • CNC Valve Job
  • CNC Engraving of PRC Logos
  • CNC Milling to Your Specs
  • Reassembly
  • Pressure Testing

Thats everything that Texas speed does whenever you send the heads to them for that service, all that is included for their stage 1 for $800. Its going into a 04 rcsb Silverado with a 4l80e and around a 3600 stall converter. Also I might go get it tuned over at cal speed where that guy went because Im about an hour away from there.
