Default Offset grinding crankshaft - stroke gained?

Alright guys, another probably obvious question. I’m looking at having my stock ls1 crank offset ground to a 1.85 journal to run Pankl billet rods, custom rod guided pistons. I’m reading on the subject and I’m still not sure. If I take off .25 offset ground to add stroke, does it add .25 of stroke or .5 stroke?

If you offset grind it .250”, it will only move the centerlines by .125”, so it will end up being .250” stroke.

Thank you, that’s exactly my train of thought as well. But people are trying to tell
me different and it’s getting confusing, especially when we are talking about 1600$ pistons

If you increase the stroke the piston has to go that much farther DOWN in the bore, and UP in the bore. So if you add .125 of length of crankshaft (or move the centerline) the piston will now be moving .250 more.

Agreed, so removing .250 off the journal adds .125 to each side, I was being told that if I removed .25 off on side that it added a .5 to the stroke, giving me a 4.112 stroke crank (allowing .010 for cleanup on the opposite side of the journal.

Yes same, we sat down and drew it up last night as well, my first time ever doing anything with an offset ground crank so just trying to cover all my bases lol
