Watched it this morning. Really lets you see what will be gained and if it is worth going bigger.

Yeah I saw that video and his Stock LS Cam shootout. Gives me a good idea of what the stock cam and a mild cam will do in my LS1. Good stuff.

Love to see this redone withe the version 2 cams recently released. The Stage 1 with tighter LSA and higher lift should beat the stock one across the entire range.

Unless this has been done somewhere (and it likely has...) I would like to see how small variations in LSA and ground-in advance affect the power curve.

I have a 2004 L59 5.3L with 706 heads in a 4x4 Chevy Suburban. Completely Stock intake and exhaust manifolds and cats, just a magnaflow welded on the stock pipes with the stock torque converter 4L60e and 4.10 gears, and 31" tires. Yet, I'm running the BTR stage III truck cam and it absolutely rips right from idle, probably because I built the engine with used 4.8L flat top pistons and 0.048 Fel-pro head gaskets. Still, based on this test I realize that I'm probably still missing out a little down low due to the 39 degree intake valve Closing of the stage III cam. I wonder how much I could advance this cam using one of those bushings with my flat tops and still be good on 87 octane in this heavy thing. I'm only throwing 22 degrees of peak timing at it, c'mon guys what should I do with this thing?

You could likely advance it 5 or 6 degrees without harm. The stock cam only has 29 IVC.

Where this cam was 206/212, .527/.537, 114 LSA, the V.2 increases lift to .553/.553, and LSA goes down to 112.
I see the V2 putting out more torque on the bottom end due to tighter LSA, carrying all the way up due to the added lift. Not bad...

Well **** G you got me thinking, could the stock cam be used with flat tops in a 5.3L? With the thinner head gaskets mine is probably 10.6:1 static

I used to have the stage 3 BTR truck cam in my LS1 it was .551 lift. I now have a cam that will run nearly .600 lift although I had to upgrade my valve springs and lifters to do it which cost well over $1000 here in Australia.

If I had a 5.3 according to these two dyno test from TSP those upgrades will net me only about 13.7 HP (see difference in dyno tests) and the gain doesn't carry all the way through the rpm range as I've heard some say, looks as if its only towards top. And this is 13.7 HP with a cam that gives 60+ HP over stock cam.

If I were to run the same cam in an LS1 and the difference would likely even less as that cam would make closer to 40 HP over the stock cam, the LS1 needs a bit more cam due to engine size etc to get a apples for apples comparison. This 13.7 HP is at engine so less for rwhp.

No problem with the stock cam, or even mild performance cams

Is 11.0:1 SCR compression ok to run in my LS1 with my cam?
Its 216/228, 2.7 overlap .590 lift, 853 heads, currently it will be 10.34:1 SCR but I'd like to run a thinner head gasket to bump it up, I'll run on 98 ron octane which is same as your 93 aki in USA.
