what does a broken valve spring sound like And what kind of damage can it do if not fixed right away. What I mean is could you drive the car to a shop with out any damage? don't know if mine is broke or not but could be a possibility.

Re: what does a broken valve spring sound like if its broke dont drive it!...it could drop a valve...it would sound like the engine would have a miss to it...good luck

Re: what does a broken valve spring sound like dont even start it! if the spring is broke the valve will not be held in place, it will drop into the cylinder and you will have a LOT of damage. just pull off the valve covers and look at all the springs!!

I'm in afghanistan. my car is being watched by a friend. when he started it he told me he heard something odd. since it is cold in WA I thought a spring might have broke. Just wanted to know so I could get an idea of what it might be. thanks for the replys.
