Default Gen 4 rod bolts in gen 3 rod

Has anybody ever done this? I’ve got a 2000 LS1 I’m rebuilding and I’ve got a set of gen 4 rods here. Will the rod bolts from the gen 4 work in the 3? I haven’t even looked to see if it’s even the same thread just curious. I plan to beat on the motor so I figured since I have them use them. Even if they will thread in and technically work will there be any chance of the rod going out of round? And I know the entire gen 4 rotating assembly is better I just don’t want to deal with driving the 3 hours to the only place that can balance it for the 3.908 pistons. Thanks

Properly torqued rod bolts don't break. The rod is the weak link.

I’m more worried about the bolts stretching and letting a bearing turn. I broke a stock rod on start up once. Snapped in two pieces and beat holes in both sides of the block.

Might as well go with arp because the rod size should be checked and more than likely honed even with gen 4 bolts.

So your answer to that is to take used bolts out of gen 4 rods?
